Colorful Kitchen:
In this project I wanted to contrast the concrete surroundings of this Manhattan, New York building by bringing nature and color to the interiors. The nature here is inspired by the Amazonian jungle where you can experience a burst of the senses.
In this family of five, they had been living in their home for almost a decade and the kitchen had never been updated. They wanted a kitchen that was open, bright, and had plenty of storage. They also wanted a functional layout that would allow them to cook, entertain with ease and create memories for years to come.
My new design included a large island with a built-in sink, plenty of counter space and an open floor plan that connected the kitchen to the dining room. We chose beautiful hardwood floors, custom cabinets with lots of storage and a sleek, modern backsplash.
Blue kitchen island and Peach dining chair:
In this Brooklyn townhouse the challenge was to combine sophisticated, mature items with a touch of contemporary design through splashes of color and art. The classical: marble countertop, herringbone hardwood floor and chiseled crown moldings are a solid structure for the playful teardrop pendants, abstract painting and coral dining chairs.
The retired couple of this space wanted to create a mature, elegant yet modern home where they can enjoy their golden years. They always appreciated classic designs, but they also desired to incorporate modern elements that would make their home feel current and fresh. They envisioned a space that is sophisticated and elegant, but not stuffy or outdated. The open, airy floor plan allows for plenty of natural light and flow between areas. We picked high-quality materials and finishes, such as hardwood floors, marble countertops, and custom cabinetry.
In terms of color scheme, they wanted to keep things neutral with shades of gray, beige, and white, but they also want to add pops of color through accent pieces and artwork. The result is a home that reflects their refined tastes and provides a welcoming environment for their loved ones.
Industrial Kitchen/Dining:
In this Union Square bachelor pad the challenge was to create an industrial yet inviting look. Silver metals, contrasted stained woods and Chesterfield leather seating pieces coexist with the fiery energy of its owner, a real estate investor, through accents of red as well as vintage posters depicting racing cars.
Industrial style is often associated with raw, unfinished textures such as exposed brick, concrete and metal. To make the space feel welcoming, I softened these textures with the addition of plush textiles like cushions and throws. Here I mixed vintage and modern pieces to create a sense of history and character in the home. For example, an antique wooden media stand paired with a light-colored modern sofa. In this industrial-inspired place, the lighting plays a key role like the mixed-metal task lamps or the chrome geometric floor lamp.
